The rules of a poker round

In Texas Hold'em, the most popular poker format, each player starts with two private cards known as "hole cards". Then, across several stages, a total of five shared cards are revealed on the table. The best five-card hand formed using these five table cards and your own two cards determines the winner at the end.

Each round has four betting stages — pre-flop, flop, turn and river. The first betting takes place after the hole cards are dealt in the pre-flop stage. After that, three cards are revealed on the flop, one on the turn and one more on the river. At each stage any player may call, raise or fold.

The player who remains at the table until the end and shows the strongest hand takes the entire pot. Sometimes, if all opponents fold, the last remaining player can win without showing their cards — and that is what makes poker unique.

Hand rankings from strongest to weakest: Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four of a Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three of a Kind, Two Pair, One Pair and High Card.

Main bet types and their payouts

Blind Bet

At the start of each round, the two players to the left of the dealer must place mandatory Small Blind and Big Blind bets. This adds initial money to the pot and keeps the game moving.

Mandatory

Call & Raise

A call means matching the previous bet amount. A raise means putting in more — a strategy to pressure opponents. The bigger the raise, the larger the pot grows and the higher the risk.

Strategic

All-In

Going all-in means betting all your chips at once. If an opponent matches it, the entire pot is decided in a single showdown. Once all-in, no one can fold until the cards are revealed.

High Risk

Check

When no one has bet yet, you can check to pass the action to the next player. It costs nothing — there is no risk of losing chips.

Defensive

Fold

Folding means dropping your cards and exiting the round when you have a weak hand. You lose whatever you have already bet, but you avoid losing more on future bets. It is the main tool of a patient player.

Safe Option

Side Pot

When one player goes all-in and the others continue betting, a separate side pot is created. The all-in player only competes for the main pot.

How House Edge and Rake Work

In poker, the casino's profit does not come from winning directly against players — it comes from the "rake", which is a small share of each pot. This rake is usually a fixed percentage of the pot, kept within a maximum cap. It does not change the competition between players.

In tournament poker, instead of rake there is a "buy-in fee" — a portion of the entry fee goes to the prize pot, and the rest is the operating fee. Under this system, players compete against each other, not against the casino.

Casino poker games such as Three Card Poker or Caribbean Stud are played against the dealer. These have a house edge and payouts are determined by a fixed pay table. ck33 offers both types of poker, so visit ck33 Casino to choose your preferred variant.

Basic Strategy Tips for Beginners

  • Choose your starting hands carefully. If you have a weak hand pre-flop, fold early. You should generally only go into big bets with strong hands like A-A, K-K, Q-Q, or A-K.
  • Understand the importance of position. Sitting next to the dealer means you act last — that is a major advantage. The later your turn, the more information you have.
  • Manage your bankroll. Do not bet more than 5% of your chip stack on any single hand. This helps you stay in the game through longer sessions.
  • Keep bluffing in check. A bluff works when there are fewer players at the table and your previous betting pattern is believable. Beginners are better off bluffing less.
  • Read your opponents. How long they take to decide, how much they raise — these small signals can tell you a lot. This is even more relevant at a live table.
  • Practice in free sessions. Start at low-limit tables first. It is better not to go into big pots until you have fully learned the rules and gameplay.

Live Dealer vs Digital Poker

At ck33, poker can be played in two distinct ways. Choose whichever suits your time, connection, and preference.

Live Dealer Poker

  • You play in real time in front of an actual dealer on camera — the feel of sitting at a game in Dhaka, from home.
  • Managed by professional dealers from Evolution and Pragmatic Play Live.
  • You can interact with the dealer and other players via the chat option.
  • The pace of the table depends on the dealer, so you will have a set time to make decisions.
  • A good internet connection gives you the best experience.

Digital / RNG Poker

  • Software-driven — play any time, at any pace.
  • You can view hand history and statistics, which is useful for learning strategy.
  • Runs without issues even on a slow connection.
  • Ideal for beginners starting with free play or low limits.
  • Tournament format can handle many more players at once.

Table Limits — Which Table Should You Join

Poker tables at ck33 are arranged in several tiers so that players of all levels, from beginners to experienced, can find a seat that suits them.

The entry-level tables have very low blinds and bet amounts. These are mainly for learning and practice. It is better to move to mid-limit tables once you have some experience — the pace and competition there are a bit more demanding.

Before sitting at a high-limit table, you need a clear understanding of your bankroll. At these tables, large amounts of chips can change hands in a single round. VIP players have dedicated tables with even higher limits.

All tables can be joined with a minimum deposit of ৳500. The table you are sitting at is clearly shown in the lobby, so you can check the limits before you start.

Common Questions About Poker

In Texas Hold'em, each player receives two hole cards and builds the best five-card hand using five community cards. In Omaha, players are dealt four hole cards, but the rule is that exactly two hole cards and three community cards must be used — no more, no less. This additional rule makes Omaha somewhat harder and changes how hands are read.

A pot-sized bet means placing a bet equal to the amount already in the pot. This reduces the correct calling odds for your opponent. When you have a drawing hand, a pot-sized bet is effective at denying your opponent the right odds. On the other hand, a smaller bet makes it cheaper for your opponent to call.

The tight-aggressive (TAG) strategy involves playing fewer hands but betting strongly when you do play. This means folding often with weak hands and raising with strong ones. It is the best starting point for beginners because it reduces unnecessary risk and teaches the value of hand selection.

At a live table, each player has a set amount of time to make a decision. When the countdown reaches zero, the hand is automatically folded. Some tables offer a "time bank" or the option to buy extra time, which can be useful in important hands.

No, in Three Card Poker the player plays against the dealer — not against other players. Only three cards are dealt and the hand rankings are different (a flush beats a full house). Decisions come down to two choices — "play" or fold. A house edge exists, so the casino has a slight advantage over the long term.
